Should You Rent or Buy College Station Real Estate?

A big question I get, especially currently as people are trying to save money, is: “Should I buy or rent a home?” Whether it is more financially sound to buy or rent a home varies greatly across the nation. For example, in a place like Omaha, Nebraska it is better to rent as a result of the huge gap between rental and purchase prices. But here in College Station, it makes more fiscal sense to purchase a home, especially if you intend to stay in the area for at least five years.

The Art of the Deal in College Station Real Estate

Helping my clients to buy and sell homes in College Station is an art I have been perfecting for the past 15 years. It is a never-ending education, as I am constantly working on learning and doing more. One important lesson I have learned during this time is what I like to call the art of the deal. Sometimes a transaction is more than a one-dimensional business deal; in a one-dimensional deal, I would help my clients simply buy or sell a home. But sometimes real estate is about more than just one house. Throw a few more variables into the mix, and the transaction requires more art, more ingenuity. Let me illustrate with an example.

4th of July at Pebble Creek in College Station, TX!

The Pebble Creek Homeowners Association will be holding the fourth annual 4th at the Creek parade and celebration July 3rd, 2010 at the Pebble Creek Country Club! Pebble Creek homeowners are encouraged to join in the festivities of celebrating the 4th of July with their friends and neighbors. Activities will include a parade, a “Most Patriotic” contest (categories are: Most Patriotic Boy, Girl, Adult, Golf Cart, and Pet), snow cones, a rock wall, and an inflated double lane super slide. The fun starts at 8:30 a.m., with the parade beginning at 9:00 a.m.

College Station Home Sales for May

May turned out to be a slow month for home sales in the Bryan College Station region. Though many homes normally sell in May and June (summer is a peak time for the real estate market), numbers were depressed compared to those from past years. The 2010 monthly average sales price for May was $161,453 on the whole, compared to 2009’s figure of $171,091.

Relocating to College Station? Don’t Forget Your Booster Seat.

Whether you are a College Station resident, or are looking into making the move to Texas, a new law might apply to you and your children. The Texas Department of Public Safety has released some clarification on their law regarding children younger than eight years old being required to use a booster seat. The law states that all children younger than eight — UNLESS taller than 4′9″ must be in a child passenger safety system. This includes traditional car seats with harnesses and booster seats.
