Green Lawn Mower

BRYAN, TX — The Texas Municipal Power Agency encourages homeowners to use electric lawn mowers rather than gas to promote cleaner air.  They are offering vouchers worth $150 toward the purchase of an electric-powered machine, corded or cordless.

You’re thinking, I gotta push this reel mower or work my way around power cords?  That’s a big sacrifice for clean air.  Well, Black and Decker does have a handy 24V battery mower but it will only cut up to 1/3 of an acre at a time.  Then there’s a solar powered cordless from Solaris - that sounds neat.

Either way, you only have until August to pick up a voucher, or until they run out.  Sears associates will hand them out to customers with a current driver’s license or your BTU bill.  For more information on these and other rebate programs offered by the local utility company, call or email…

This weekend, April 17-19, is Parent’s Weekend 2009. Parent’s Weekend is a long standing tradition at Texas A&M University, with events like Midnight Yell, Maroon and White football game, and tent sales in every other parking lot on Texas Avenue. This three-day event showcases what Texas A&M is all about and is an opportunity for the parents of Texas A&M students to experience the Bryan/College Station Area.

Another big thing about Parent’s Weekend is that college students look at homes or new places to live for the upcoming school year. Parents are always eager to look at the new homes (apartments, townhomes, houses, etc…) that their children have picked out or are excited to help their kids find a place. Prepare to be busy, this is the weekend to sell student living!!!

This year, the Bryan/College Station Tea Party was held at Tanglewood Park in Bryan and was a huge success! The community event hosted several guest speakers as well as many passionate citizens of the B/CS area.

weekend officially kicks of the spring selling season.  Annually, sales and purchases pick up this time of year.  So here’s your chance at a sneak preview from 1-4p on this coming Sunday.

The Eagle newspaper will insert a HUGE advertisement for Century 21, Beal showing all the open homes with a handy map.  Before you head out your front door and into ours, here’s a few pointers:

1. Know what you can afford.  Check out a lender Thursday or Friday to see what you are qualified for.  None of this “I think I can…”  We want responsible consumers to make fiscally sound decisions.  I can recommend a lender in our area if you need a suggestion.

2. Take those stars out of your eyes.  Sure it’s fun to day dream of your perfect abode.  But when you come back down to earth, re-read step number one.

3. There are only 3 hours to get from house to house.  That means you can probably see 6 homes total, maybe 8 if a few are in the same neighborhood.  So wake up early, read your morning paper before you go to church, and plan a route.

4. If you know of anyone shopping for a home under $110k, send ‘em my direction.  I have an immaculate home that will be open in north Bryan — 2306 Yosemite!
